If you were charged for an LLC filing, EIN, registered agent, or another service you didn't mean to purchase, we can help. Charges happen once payment details are entered and "Submit Application" is pressed — even if that happened by accident, partway through filling out a form, or because our site was mistaken for a state government website.
Here's the simple rule: if your order hasn't been submitted to the state yet, you get a full refund — 100% of the service fee, the state filing fee, and any add-ons you selected. Expedited orders are submitted the same business day, and standard orders are typically submitted within 1-4 business days (the timeframe shown at checkout), sometimes as soon as 1 business day (often within hours), so this window is short. Contact us as soon as possible if you want to cancel before that happens.
FormationHub is a third-party filing service, not a government agency. We prepare and submit your paperwork to your state's Secretary of State on your behalf for a service fee, which is separate from the state's own filing fee. If you'd rather file directly with your state yourself, just let us know and we'll cancel your order before it's submitted.
Once your order has been submitted to the state, the state's filing fee can no longer be refunded — it has already been paid to the state — and our service fee is considered earned for the work completed. If you still have concerns about a submitted order, contact us and we'll take a look at your specific situation.
If the state rejects your filing: if it's something we can fix on our end, we'll fix it and re-file at no charge — you don't need to do anything. If the rejection requires new information from you (for example, a name change because your original name was taken) and you decide not to move forward, we'll refund the service fee, any unused add-ons, and whatever amount the state returns to us. If your order was never actually submitted to the state at all, it's treated the same as any pre-submission cancellation — a full refund.
Individual add-ons can also be cancelled and refunded on their own within 30 days of purchase, as long as they haven't been used yet: EIN (until we've submitted your SS-4 to the IRS), Operating Agreement (until it's been delivered to you), certified copy (until it's been ordered), and BOI report (until it's been filed).
Registered Agent service is $192/year and renews automatically. We'll send you reminder emails during the final 3 weeks before your renewal date — cancel any time before then and you won't be charged. If your Registered Agent service is already active (for example, right after your LLC is filed) or a renewal payment has already gone through, cancelling gets you a prorated refund for the unused part of your term, minus a $49 cancellation fee. You'll also need to file your state's Change of Registered Agent form yourself, at your own cost, since we can no longer serve in that role once cancelled.
If you paid for expedited filing and we do not submit an expedited order the same business day (or the next business day for orders placed outside business hours), just ask — we'll refund the difference between the expedited and standard price.
To help us find and cancel your order quickly, have ready: the business/LLC name on the order and the email address you used at checkout.
We'll let you know our decision on your refund request within 3 business days. Once approved, you'll get an automatic confirmation email, and the refund typically arrives back on your original payment method within 5-10 business days. Refund requests must be made within 6 months of the original charge.
If any part of your charge is unclear, ask us for an itemized breakdown of what you paid for. Charges typically include a one-time service fee, your state's filing fee, and any optional add-ons you selected, such as EIN, an operating agreement, certified copies, or registered agent service ($192/year).
If it felt like your order went through even though you were trying to back out, that's usually because the final button on checkout is labeled "Submit Application" and can be clicked by mistake — there's no known technical issue that charges a card without that button being pressed. If you close out or navigate away before pressing Submit, nothing is charged and your application is saved automatically so you can pick it up again within 30 days. If you did get charged, treat it like any other accidental purchase: contact us and we'll follow the cancellation and refund steps above based on whether your order has been submitted to the state yet.
If you're considering disputing this charge with your bank or card issuer, please contact us first — we'll make a decision within 3 business days, while bank disputes typically take 30-60 days to resolve.
Step by step
Contact support by chat, email, or phone with your business/LLC name and the email address used at checkout.
Tell us clearly whether you want to cancel the entire order, a duplicate order, or just a single add-on.
We'll confirm whether your application has already been submitted to the state.
If it hasn't been submitted yet, we'll cancel it and refund everything you paid — service fee, state fee, and add-ons.
If it has already been submitted, the state fee can't be refunded once it's been paid to the state, and the service fee is considered earned — reach out anyway and we'll review your specific situation with you.
We'll confirm our decision within 3 business days and send an automatic confirmation email once your refund is approved; approved refunds arrive within 5-10 business days.
