Refund Status & Timelines: What to Expect After Requesting a Refund

If you've asked us to cancel your order or requested a refund, here's what happens next and when to expect your money back.

We review every refund request and make a decision within 3 business days. If approved, you'll receive an automatic email confirmation, and funds are typically back in your original payment method within 5-10 business days after approval.

Refunds are returned to your original payment method. If your card number has recently changed (for example, your bank or card provider issued you a new card), the refund is still sent to the account on file, so check with your bank or card provider directly if you don't see it under the new card number.

If your order hasn't been submitted to the state yet, you're covered by a 100% refund of everything you paid — service fee, state fee, and any add-ons. We move quickly on filings, though: expedited orders are submitted the same business day, and standard orders are typically submitted within 1-4 business days (the timeframe shown at checkout), sometimes as soon as 1 business day (often within just a few hours), so this window closes fast. If you chose expedited processing and we do not submit an expedited order the same business day (or the next business day for orders placed outside business hours), just ask and we'll refund the difference between the expedited and standard price.

Once your filing has been submitted to the state, the state filing fee is no longer refundable, since it's already been paid to the state, and our service fee is considered earned for the work completed. The one exception: if you made an accidental purchase, let us know within 24 hours of buying and we'll refund 50% of the service fee, no questions asked.

Add-ons you haven't used yet can be refunded individually within 30 days of purchase: EIN service (up until we submit your SS-4 to the IRS), Operating Agreement (up until it's delivered to you), certified copies (up until they're ordered), and Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) filing (up until it's actually filed).

If your state filing is rejected for something we can fix on our end, we'll correct it and refile for free — you don't need to ask. If the rejection needs something only you can provide (for example, choosing a new business name because yours was taken) and you'd rather not continue, we'll refund the service fee, any unused add-ons, and whatever the state returns to us. If your filing was never actually submitted to the state at all, you'll get a full refund.

Registered Agent service is $192/year (that's $16/month, prepaid yearly to cover the next 12 months) and renews automatically. We send reminder emails during the final 3 weeks before your renewal date — cancel before then and you won't be charged. If your Registered Agent service is already active (after your LLC is filed) or a renewal has already been charged, canceling gets you a prorated refund of the unused portion of your term, minus a $49 cancellation fee; you'll need to file the state's Change of Registered Agent yourself, at your own cost.

If you're thinking about disputing a charge with your bank, please contact us first — we'll review and decide within 3 business days, while a bank dispute typically takes 30-60 days to resolve.

All refund requests must be made within 6 months of the original charge. If it's been longer than the timeframe we quoted you and you still don't see your refund, reach out with your name and business/LLC name and we'll check the status for you.

Prefer not to wait on hold? Chat and phone are answered live, and email replies come within 1 hour — or ask us to email you a secure sign-in link to your account so you can review your order details anytime; that link is valid for 7 days.

Step by step

  1. Message us with the name on your order or your business/LLC name.

  2. We'll confirm whether your refund request is still under review (decisions are made within 3 business days) or has already been approved.

  3. If it's approved but you don't see the funds within 5-10 business days, check with your bank or card provider — posting can take a few extra days, especially if your card number has recently changed.
